The Attendance Centre

The Attendance Centre is an alternative to custody for youth who do not pose a risk to the community, and do not require intensive supervision. It is designed to provide youth with a unique skill set that will allow them to flourish throughout their lives and reduce their involvement in the criminal justice system.

At Dalhousie Youth Support Services, the goal of the Attendance Centre is to provide services to youth, ages 12 to 17, in accordance with the YCJA and in compliance of court orders. Counsellors strive to form a strength based relationship with the youth to better understand the youth’s current situation. Programming provides a wide variety of opportunities for youth to learn and develop new skills, while maintaining a closely supervised setting to ensure the safety of the youth and the community.

Programming is designed to address:

  • Anger Management
  • Substance Awareness
  • Employment
  • Education
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Life Skills
  • Victim Impact Awareness
  • Crisis Support

Referral Process:

Youth are referred to the Attendance Centre program by their probation officer as a condition of probation
